2017 CSA Changes
As most of you know, the farm is run by two families. Families with eight young children (split four and four), ranging in ages from 9 years old to 1 year old. The farm is about offering the best of ourselves to God, hence our name "First Fruits". Like many things in life, we have to make priorities and choices based on such. When Jess and I (the mother's) realized our most cherished "priorities" were being put further down on the priorities list, we had to make changes. We were offering our "leftovers" to our children and not our first fruits. The families met and decided on changes that would be best for our families in this current season of our lives. "The days are long, but the years are short."
We did not want to completely stop farming and neither do our children, but we do recognize we need to scale back the scope of our operation. Therefore, we have made the following changes to our regular CSA season.
14 Week season (Memorial Day-Labor Day)
May 30-August 29, 2017
Cap on the number of CSA members
We know that these changes might be inconvenient for some of our existing members, but at the end of the day it is our families that we need to serve. In order to be spiritually, mentally, and physically capable of our day-to-day duties, we have to scale back somewhere. "You can't pour from an empty cup." These changes have been made after a LOT of prayer and tears.
Our families thank you for your support and understanding. We will continue to be a presence at the farmer's markets in the 2017 season!
